Sep 30, 2016. #1. I have a 2004 TD5 which I have owned since 2006. During this time it has had at least 6 fuel pump relays! Another one has just failed today. It died on me in traffic and I rolled to a halt with the engine management light on. Luckily it restarted without too much trouble on that occasion. I got out of the traffic and pulled over.
Hallo, petervdb I have experienced VERY VERY SIMILAR timing chain failure on our 2001 Discovery td5. Due to leaking fuel into oil (common problem) I have replaced the cylinder head last year and at this occasion I changed the timing gear and chain as well. I put in a brand new AMC cylinder head complete with new valves etc.Common Faults: Land Rover TD5 Motorola ECM/ECU's will cause issues such as limited revs to below 2000 RPM, cutting out when driving and intermittent to complete non-start issues. When the ECM scanned with diagnostic equipment commonly logged fault codes include: 0128 - topside switch failed, 0135 through to 0138 - injectors 1 through to 5
Location:Durham UK. Posted January 5, 2011. Power steering pump is fitted top right as you look at the engine (so nearside). It could be this leaking, or it could be the pipe underneath it which often rubs against the engine bay. Exchange unit for the pump is about £150 give or take.
Wirral. Jun 6, 2020. #1. Hi all, I’ve recently purchased a discovery 2 1999 td5 gs auto for a project. The battery was dead, so I charged it overnight refitted so all the lights are working, radio comes on dashboard lights up but no power at all it just will not turn over. Air suspension all raised so don’t think it’s a power issue. The areas to check are the auto transmission, which can be troublesome, and cars should be thoroughly test driven to pick any possible problems that might occur down the track. Electrical issues are fairly common. Oil can get into the injector harness causing electrical short circuits at the plug connections. R8Gqjs.
