In general, to get a really effective army, I usually have 2 heroes in the same army. 2 or 3 heroes are better than one. Although you gain 1/2 or 1/3 the experience if you have 2 or 3 heroes, having more heroes will help you more tremendously than you can imagine.
You will receive ZOMBIES afterward. --After the scenes, travel to the south and then over to the guards in front of the cage. Choose to rescue the prisoner. Well, this works great against the AI, but not against a human player: Whenever there's a Sanctuary near a castle, and you might not be able to successfully defend it against a siege, put a hero in the sanctuary, and leave 1 creature in each spot in the castle (or put up as good a fight as you can with the creatures you have, to wear down the attacking hero some).
